CAROL HARLEY LEUKEMIA TREATMENT FUNDRAISING EFFORT:
 |
DALE AND MOLLY ADKINS
Salem, OR
March 19, 2005
Eleven Year Old Molly Adkins from Salem, Oregon, is not your typical 6th grader. She is, among other things, an accomplished and award winning singer/songwriter and musician. She LOVES Bluegrass music and can hardly wait for Festival Season each summer. Her father is a well-known Bluegrass musician, singer and recording engineer as well as a high school chemistry teacher in Salem. |
A few months ago, Molly came up with an idea to help her friend and fellow musician, Carol Harley, who was recently diagnosed with CML Leukemia. Molly would record and release her first CD and donate the proceeds to the Carol Harley Leukemia Treatment Fund. This was all her idea.
She knew she wanted to have Suzanne Pearce produce the CD, and she knew what songs she wanted AND what guest artists she'd like. Those artists included some of the Misty River band, of whom Carol Harley is an active member and matriarch. Leave it to an 11 year old girl to get the job done!
She released this CD, titled "Down In The Valley" in time for the big April 9, 2005 Benefit Concert held at the Shedd Auditorium in Eugene, Oregon. |
